Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
Meditation is the technique of focusing the mind with attention and awareness to discover inner stillness. It has a profound effect both physiologically and psychologically, promoting coherence between our physical, mental and emotional bodies.
There are various forms of meditation practice that can come from many different traditions around the world.
Some forms use a formless nature, where we don't focus on anything, but surrender to everything. Other forms use a focus, that can be a symbol, a candle, a mantra (repeated sounds) or even a movement.
